Who can apply for The Bharat Sabbatical

The Bharat Sabbatical is an eight-week residential-cum-travel programme designed for the youth members from the Indian Diaspora who aspire to work towards strengthening the relations with India as future leaders of their countries. Though not limited to, delegates from the following domains would be preferred. 

  • University students pursuing graduate and higher studies preferably in domains of humanities, development studies, liberal arts. 
  • Young policy professionals working with think-tanks, public institutions and governments
  • Community leaders, social entrepreneurs and cultural enthusiasts 

Is there an age limit?

The average TBS delegate would be between 24-40 years of age. However, we encourage those who have the passion and who fulfil the eligibility requirements, to apply even if they do not fall in this age limit.

Is this a full time program?

Yes, this is a full time, residential-cum-travel programme. All delegates are mandated to complete the entire duration of eight weeks.

Where is the campus located?

The campus is housed at the Rishihood University, Sonipat. It is located on the Grand Trunk road, about 40km away from New Delhi. It is well connected to New Delhi through rail and road.

Apart from campus residence, delegates will travel to Uttarakhand in the foothills of the Himalayas, the Gangetic plains of  Uttar Pradesh and the state of Gujarat. 

Can I arrange for my accommodation outside the campus?

The TBS schedule is designed to train and give a holistic experience. Keeping with this, all delegates will have to stay inside the Rishihood Campus.

What kind of food will be provided on campus?

Breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner will be provided on campus every day. We provide good quality, vegetarian food, which is covered under the fee for the programme. 

In case you have any food allergies or restrictions please let us know in advance by explicitly mentioning in your application or via e-mail. 

Will I be provided with travel facilities throughout the program?

Yes, all the delegates will be travelling together through various modes of commutation including air-conditioned buses/cabs, flights and trains. 

Pick-up and drop facilities will be provided to and from the airport on the first day i.e June 5, 2020 and the last day i.e. July 25, 2020. 

What would the eight weeks look like?

The eight weeks of TBS include various aspects of self-development, leadership grooming, understanding governance practices and cultural immersion in India. These would be imparted through a combination of lectures, seminars, workshops and field visits. 

Every delegate has to work on a hands-on project which reflects their understanding of India, and their own knowledge of best practices in their country.

Will I receive a certificate towards the end of the program?

Yes, a certificate will be provided by the Rashtram School of Public Leadership on successful completion of the programme. Students willing to make TBS a credit course as a part of their academic curriculum can write to us separately requesting for the same. 

How can I remain connected to the institution and learners after the program?

TBS will build a life-long network with our delegates to actively engage with their peers and friends in India and across the world for collaborating and working on deas. 

Delegates will also be a part of the larger network of Rashtram learners, VIF VIF alumni and mentors, who have knowledge and expertise across a spectrum of domains and disciplines, for implementing these ideas.
