Policy BootCamp 2018

The 4th edition of the Policy BootCamp was a resounding success. 150 participants from 23 states underwent 500+ hours of learning through 70+ experts.  The intense 21 days experience concluded with a soul-stirring speech by Padma Shri Smt Phoolbasan Bai Yadav. The speakers included senior parliamentarians, bureaucrats, academicians, and grassroots workers. Several VIF alumni also conducted workshops and delivered lectures, putting the VIF mission of #BeAndMake in action.

Antaram‘ – 2 Day Education Conference

VIF organized a 2-day conference on education at IIT Delhi called ‘Antaram –  a meaningful pause for solutions in education’. Antaram featured leading educationists, thinkers, practitioners, representatives of visionary schools across India, grass-roots leaders – teachers, principals, civil society representatives, education-entrepreneurs, change-makers from Central and State Governments.

Indic Teen Fest

VIF was a training partner for the first of its kind ‘Indic Teen Fest’. The 3 day Teen Fest provided a platform for teenagers to mingle with peers from around the world while enjoying games, competitions, talks, seminars and other programmes.  Activities included toy-making, flute making, Odissi dance, Madhubani art and Hindustani vocal.


Rashma, research associate at VIF, published her first book “Buddha & the Bitch‘. The book is an inspiring, autobiographical story of a unique friendship between two women from different cultures, generations and world views, presenting two different approaches to life and art.

Ravi Sankar, manager at VIF,  wrote an article on how in the great energy game, the control is now shifting towards consumer countries. For the first time in the history of the energy industry, the common man has a chance to play the grand game.

Popatrao Pawar as VIF Mentor

Sh Popatrao Pawar is the former sarpanch of Hiware Bazar, a gram panchayat in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra. In 20 years, he was able to transform Hiware Bazar from a drought-prone village into a green and prosperous model village. He is now entrusted with the responsibility of replicating the success of Hiware Bazar across the state of Maharashtra. Sh Pawar has consented to be a mentor to VIF and guide those who want to transform their villages.

Featured Alumnus of the Month

Shivani Singh is an alumnus of the Good Governance Yatra 2017. She is part of a group of students at BITS-Pilani who are building a constellation of thirty remote sensing nano-satellites that will be launched by the end of 2019. The shoe-box size satellites will be several times more effective than a single satellite as it will generate data at more frequent intervals. The constellation will predict the weather for agriculture, ocean monitoring and an array of other important tasks.

Featured Mentor of the Month

Avinash Mohanty is a 2005 batch IPS officer. He is a mentor to Vision India Foundation and is currently serving as the DCP Detective Department in Hyderabad Police. Avinash was recently in the news when his team arrested a 41-year-old Pakistani national for allegedly threatening his wife and step-daughter to upload their nude photos and videos on the internet. The accused, Mohd. Usman Ikram, is a native of Pakistan’s Punjab province, married the complainant fraudulently by claiming himself as Indian citizen when they were working in Dubai. Avinash has mentored VIF associates and alumni by giving them a perspective of the police force on issues of national importance.
