Good Governance Yatra 

The 5th edition Good Governance Yatra covered the states of Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. 70 participants undertook this 9-day journey to visit and study governance projects, understand governance challenges on the ground, and meet the inspiring people who brought about the transformation. The model projects visited included Saligao waste management plant, Vikram Sarabhai space center, Kudumbashree women empowerment, and poverty eradication program, and Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari.

Sanskrit Understanding and Speaking Workshop 

It is of utmost value to a nation, a human group-soul, to preserve its language and to make of it a strong and living cultural instrument. A nation, race or people which loses its language cannot live its whole life or its real life.” – Sri Aurobindo

Vision India Foundation conducted a 6 days Sanskrit understanding and speaking workshop for its executive team and fellows. The instructor of the workshop was Dr Sampadananda Mishra, Director of Sri Aurobindo Foundation for Indian Culture, Puducherry. His work in the field of Sanskrit has won him accolades such as the Maharshi Badrayana Vyasa Sammana from the President of India (2011) and the Senior Fellowship Award by Ministry of Culture, Government of India (2014).

Ideas to Impact – Writers’ Workshop 

VIF organized a 15-hour Article Writing Workshop to hone one’s ability to communicate with clarity and precision. Through interactions with stalwarts and practical, hands-on pedagogy, the workshop explored key insights and techniques needed at every stage of writing – from brainstorming ideas to identifying target platforms for publishing an article.

Featured Fellow of the Month

Amruth Kulkarni is a Development associate with Vision India Foundation and working in the field of Electoral Politics since one year. Amruth hails from Chikkodi in Karnataka and is passionate about awakening the youth and engaging them in nation-building activities. He has a rich on-field experience of working with multiple socio-cultural organizations. He has actively engaged in the electoral campaign management and strategy implementation during the recently concluded assembly elections of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. He has traveled extensively in more than 150 assembly constituencies of these states, conducted the surveys and prepared the report for third-party campaign management companies. Amruth was also part of the organizing team of recently concluded Good Governance Yatra.  

Featured Alumnus of the Month

Arshad Shaik is an alumnus of Policy BootCamp 2015. He is the President of Today’s Kalam Foundation, through which he is working on educational and health interventions in the Madrassas of Hyderabad. Recently Arshad was appointed as a Council Member at National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of Human Resources, Department of Higher Education.​

Featured Mentor of the Month

Shri Anand Shah, Senior Vice President for Strategic Initiatives at Ola, launched Ola Mobility Institute, a policy research and social innovation unit of the company. The institute will help develop knowledge frameworks on mobility, and will primarily leverage the potential of mobility as a growth and innovation engine for India.  The institute comprises a team of researchers, academicians, policy specialists, and strategic thinkers from premier institutions across the world.
