Updates from April 2019

Namaste from Vision India Foundation. In April, a delegation from VIF visited Israel, VIF conducted online interaction with major political parties to understand their election strategies, complemented politics with policy education through interactions with experts from across sectors and much more. World Governance Expedition to Israel 

Twenty delegates took part in the World Governance Expedition 2019, organized by Vision India Foundation in collaboration with Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs, visited Tel-Aviv and Jerusalem to understand about the best governance practices through experiential learning, interaction with leaders and simulation exercise.

They explored ways for people to people collaboration and private participation in broadening the horizons of Indo-Israel relationship. The expedition lasted for a period of 5 days from 30th March – 4 April.

Election Curve – Webinars to Decode Elections

In the series ‘Election Curve’ by VIF Webinars, leading political parties of General Elections 2019 participated to put forth their vision and ideas before the youth. Contrary to the conventional debates in media, the discussion revolves around the policy angle of elections and enables the parties to share their vision, election manifesto and the potential impact it can have on the General Elections.

Sh. Subhash Yaduvansh (President – Bhartiya Janta Yuva Morcha, Uttar Pradesh), Sh. Amrish Ranjan Pandey (National Spokesperson and Media Head, Youth Congress, INC) and Sh. Ghanshyam Tiwari (National Spokesperson, Samajwadi Party) interacted with the youngsters across the country.

VIF Webinars is a series of online interaction on India’s policy ecosystem and related domains, especially curated to constructively engage a young audience.

Public Policy Program for Executives (P3E)  

In April, 4 eminent speakers delivered lectures in the online lecture modules of Public Policy Program for Executives (P3E).  These speakers were Sh Prithwis Mukerjee (Director, Praxis Business School), Sh Jaya Prakash Narayana (political reformer), Rear Admiral  MD Suresh (picture above) and Sh Anil Swarup (former Secretary School Education and Ministry of Coal GoI). The intention of the online lecture modules is to get the best of the domain experts to interact with the participants of P3E.

Featured Fellow of the Month

Amruth Kulkarni is a development associate at Vision India Foundation. He is on the fellowship track of ‘Community Development and Electoral Politics’. Recently he was engaged with the Lok Sabha elections campaign in North Karnataka. Amruth was actively involved in campaign management and election strategy for a third-party political and election management organization. He was in charge of Chikkodi parliamentary constituency, within which he was directly responsible for 2 major assembly constituencies. As a part of his work, he has traveled extensively, visited more than 500 villages and addressed more than 150 events, leading a team of 500 volunteers.

Featured Alumnus of the Month

Deepti Bora is a student of English Literature and Education and is currently an educator based in Ahmedabad. She has worked to build sustainable teaching-learning solutions at XSEED Education, developed curriculum for teachers and students of schools in India and Philippines, and currently working on making cities child-friendly with a model of Riverside Education Foundation, aProCh (a Protagonist in every Child). Her work to foster learning environments in and outside the school has impacted 1000+ children across India till now.

  • Policy BootCamp is a 21-day residential program focused on public policy and governance, leadership, and nation-building. It serves as a launchpad for aspiring public leaders, and policy enthusiasts who are specialists in their respective fields. Dates: 9-29 June Location: Delhi NCR
  • World Governance Expedition (WGE) introduces international best practices in governance and public policy to a selected cohort of young leaders from India. A travel-based experiential programme, WGE aims to understand governance and policy models across the world and their viability in the Indian context. Dates: 8-15 July Location: Russia
  • Change Agents’ Retreat is VIF’s annual alumni get together. It is a platform for VIF alumni who are committed to nation building to meet and interact with each other and some of the best minds in the country. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss their career plans, network with a diverse community, collaborate with like-minded individuals and organizations and stay updated on the various aspects of Nation building. Dates: 1st and 2nd June. Location: Hyderabad
