Vision India Foundation and National Institute of Rural Development & Panchayat Raj (NIRD&PR) have partnered for enabling young professionals to contribute for a ‘New India by 2022‘ through preparation of Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) in 50 Gram Panchayat (GP) Clusters.
This stands out to be a unique initiative where young professionals from reputed academic institutions and prior corporate work experience can volunteer in development of Gram Panchayats as part of the initial phase of Government of India’s ambitious initiative – Mission Antyodaya. For coordinating the project, two Project Associates would work in the Project Monitoring Unit (PMU) at NIRD&PR, Hyderabad.
Mission Antyodaya is an accountability and convergence framework for transforming lives and livelihoods on measurable outcomes. Phase-1 is to make a real difference to the lives of 1 Crore households in 5000 Rural Clusters (50,000 Gram Panchayats) in 1000 days. For this to happen, Gram Panchayats are to be ready with GPDPs. But due to the updated methods, technology, the shortage of resources and various other reasons the existing mechanism is facing operational challenges. To address this, talented, young and dynamic volunteers, who are well-versed with process-oriented functioning, can involve themselves in streamlining the existing local governance mechanism. The Project Associates (PMU) would play a key role in coordinating with the volunteers who would be placed with GP Clusters and other stakeholders.
