Shyam is currently working in the field of civilizational studies. His work aims at gaining a deeper understanding of the Dharmic Worldview, the importance of a civilizational narrative and how it can offer a powerful lens to analyze the world today. Designing effective policy solutions and institutions based on the Indic perspective is an area close to his heart. His articles focussing on forgotten icons and how civilizational perspectives inform contemporary issues have been published in various media outlets including BBC, The New Indian Express, Huffington Post, Swarajya, The Logical Indian etc. He also initiated an in-house video series called ‘Indic Lenses for Modern Life’ which explores practical Indic frameworks that help us navigate our contemporary globalized world. There is also a plan to expand the same into a book. Currently, he is working on developing the “Civilisational India” course which explores the foundations of Indian social, political and legal institutions, and how we can design effective policy suited to our cultural context. A version of this course was piloted with 50 plus participants at the Policy BootCamp 2017, organized by Vision India Foundation.
Shyam is currently pursuing a Masters in Political Science from JNU. He has a Bachelors in Computer Science from Amrita University, Coimbatore. He volunteers with Anaadi Foundation, a socio-spiritual organization dedicated to self-unfoldment of individuals. He dreams of seeing India as a civilization informing India as a nation in every sphere of life.
