What is the eligibility for expedition?

You must have completed at least one year of university education to be eligible. There is no upper age limit. You should also have a valid passport and must be conversant in English.

Does the program have a cost?

Yes, the expedition’s program cost is ₹1.95Lacs. It is only payable after you are selected.

Can I get a scholarship?

We offer scholarships between ₹20,000 and ₹1,00,000 to highly deserving applicants based on merit and means. The application requires submission of a video essay for the same. Details are available on the application page.

What is covered in the program costs?

Program cost includes all meals, accommodation, merchandise, course material, domestic travel, event tickets, laundry etc.

It does not include the international travel and related expenses.

How will I get a visa?

You have to follow the procedure to apply for an UK visa. More details can be found here. We provide a confirmation letter which you can include in the purpose of visit while obtaining the visa.

We will also organize a group visa appointment if there are enough candidates from a region.

What if I do not get the visa?

The expedition has partnered with numerous public officials and organizations in the UK for the visit. Therefore, it is unlikely that one does not get a visa unless there are other issues with the passport, criminal check etc.

In case you are selected, you will pay a non-refundable registration amount of ₹20,000. The last date to complete the payment will be communicated in the selection mail. We understand that you want to make sure you have a visa before completing the payment. Therefore, it is advisable to start the visa process ASAP.

What is the refund policy?

In case you are selected, you are eligible for a refund of 50% if you inform by 1st July, 2016 and 20% if you inform by 31st July, 2016. We will not be able to refund for any cancellation after July 31 2016. Please note that the registration amount of ₹20,000 is non-refundable, and the percentage refund will be applicable to the rest of the amount only.

How to plan the travel?

You should reach London by 10AM on September 10th, 2017. You can leave from London anytime on or after September 20th, 2017. The program starts with the morning breakfast and expedition workshop at London on September 10th and concludes again with a dinner at London on September 20th.

We will connect the selected delegates with each other so that you can plan to travel together if you wish. We will also be happy to connect delegates to our travel agent for bulk bookings and discounts.

You will receive advisory on luggage and other relevant items after selection.

I can’t get a holiday for 10 days. What to do?

WGE is an intensive learning program. If you are a university student/working professional who needs permission to take a 10-day leave, we can write to the authorities with program details. If you need our help in obtaining a leave for the program, please send a separate mail to wge@visionindiafoundation.com after you apply for the expedition.

The request letter we send to the university is contingent on your selection for the expedition.

I am a UK citizen. Can I apply?

Certainly! The expedition includes visits and interactions at places where most UK citizens would not have visited. If you are a policy and governance enthusiast, you are most welcome to apply.

Will I get a certificate for the program?

Yes, selected delegates will receive a certificate after successful completion of the expedition.

I have family/friends in UK/Europe. Can I meet them during the expedition?

We will follow a busy schedule and it is not advisable to leave the group at any time. If you want to meet friends/family, you can plan to reach the UK a few days earlier or leave a few days after the expedition is over.
