Rajaswa Gyan Sangam

The purpose of organizing the conference is to facilitate a two-way communication between policy makers and the officers working in field offices. This is seen as a step that will increase the efficiency in collecting revenue and ensuring that policies are implemented on the ground effectively. The conference will also serve as a platform to deliberate and discuss on problems ensuing while implementing policies.

“New India- Will Be by Me”

The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Container Corporation of India, along with Bandra railway station in Mumbai, organized an exhibition/ cultural program, in order to promote the resolve of “New India”. The Exhibition also focuses on the freedom movements of the country (1857-1947). These programs will be organized at 39 locations across the length and breadth of the country, with a focus also on the vision for New India(2017-2022). Information will also be disseminated regarding various Central Government schemes.

App to Apply for Farm Registration

The Agricultural & Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) has developed an integrated system for concerned stakeholders, for the purpose of facilitating farm registration and certification of certain vegetables and fruits meant to be exported. A mobile app is also in place, which can help farmers carry out their farm registration process and track the status of the same. The app will also assist state agriculture departments in obtaining real time details of farm location, farm products, inspection details, etc.

National Nutrition Strategy

NITI Aayog has unveiled a national strategy to ensure that each and every child, adolescent girl and woman attains a favorable nutritional status by 2022. The Integrated Child Development Services Scheme will be broadened to develop the National Nutrition Mission. There is a significant role to be played by the Steering Group, envisaged to monitor the progress made.

Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2017

The Department has taken new initiative for the furtherance of Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign and instituted Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar in 2016-17 to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in water, sanitation and hygiene practices in schools. The schools were given an award of Rs. 50,000/- each as additional school grant, to be utilized for swachhta related activities, which was digitally transferred to them, along with a Certificate.

DIKSHA Portal Launched

The Vice President of India inaugurated DIKSHA Portal on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, along with presenting the National Teachers Award, 2016. DIKSHA is a digital platform to equip teachers with skills, using technology and by making the utmost use of the digital infrastructure that is in place. It will provide free online courses for teachers in both online and offline modes.

UJALA in Malaysia

The Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), under the Ministry of Power, has launched the UJALA Scheme in Melaka, Malaysia. The EESL will be distributing about 1 million 9W LED bulbs, replacing 18W CFLs, along with a 3-year replacement warranty against any technical defects. The Chief Minister of Melaka appreciated the idea of this scheme and highlighted how adopting this practice will be an environment-friendly approach, promote clean energy and improve quality of life of people in the region.

National Integration Tour

The Indian Army is organizing tours to kindle the spirit of national integration for students from ;J&K and the North Eastern states. The tour organized for students from Leh, comprised of interaction with Army Officials and visits to various places of cultural and historical significance, in Chandigarh and Delhi.

FASTag lanes- Electronic Toll Collection

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has moved a step towards realizing the mission of Electronic Toll Collection, by operationalizing one dedicated FASTag lane at all toll plazas. FASTag is a device that employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, making direct toll payments from linked prepaid accounts- available both online and offline through banks and Common Service Centres. Two mobile applications- MyFASTag and FASTag Partner, have also been launched to facilitate the availability of FASTags. More lanes will be dedicated to electronic toll collection, as the penetration of FASTag increases.

‘Festival Offers’ Inaugurated

The Minister of Tribal Affairs inaugurated ‘Festival Offers’ for the promotion of tribal products, and thus empowering tribal artisans. The Ministry plans to open exhibition cum sale outlets for tribal products and inviting artisans from all over the country. Additionally, in order to boost marketing and sale, the Tribal Co-operative Marketing Development Federation of India Limited (TRIFED) has launched a wide range of initiatives, such as discount schemes for government employees, festival discounts and other offer packages.

“North East Calling”

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region is organizing the ‘North East Calling’ programme on the 9th and 10th of September. The event is being held in order to promote the art, culture, cuisine, handicrafts, and tourism of North East India, which will also showcase various products and activities of the region. A range of competitions will also be held in schools and colleges, on the theme of North East, with the main two-day event to be hosted at India Gate lawns.

Social Media Campaign to Promote Geographical Indications (GIs)

The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion and the Intellectual Property Rights Promotion and Management Cell have begun a social media campaign to promote Indian Geographic Indicators, aimed at educating people about intellectual property rights. Such a step will aid the process of keeping the intellectual heritage of Indian products secure and will be in keeping with the ‘Make in India’  campaign. This will also help the rural economy, by protecting the generation old procedures and techniques used by weavers and traditional craftsmen.

Push for Early Setting up of BRICS Credit Rating Agency

At the BRICS Summit held in Xiamen, Prime Minister Mr.Modi pitched for an early setting up of a  separate credit rating agency, to cater to the financial needs of member countries of BRICS and other developing countries. India has always highlighted the issues concerning the three major rating agencies and held that creation of a new agency will help tackle problems of emerging markets and economies.
